Josh's new website is now open - head on over there to gett he lastest info on his upcoming E.P. - download an mp3 sampler of 'rough cuts' coming out of the studio, read 2 extensive biogs all about Josh, with loads of stuff you didn't know AND join 'the arcade' - Josh's message board!

Oh and you can read Josh's new blog too!

P.S. If you're still seeing the old frontpage - hit refresh 4 or 5 times and it should change before your very eyes!

i went straight to the music page to download the sampler. how exciting! :D

right. now on to the site itself..

i am a picky bastard, and have found these things to irk me..

bio page:

Months later they both dropped out of university, hooked up with pal Steve Clarke, and formed the post-punk, power-pop group, 'the dumdums'.

at least capitalise it? The Dum Dums? or The Dumdums?

John Entwhistle of the Who,

Entwistle.

One sold out show at Shepherds Bush Empire was reported to have had in the audience...

that makes it sound like there were several.. how about "their sold-out show"?

They played a final show to 10,000 at Greenbelt festival

um.. i really doubt that there were 10,000 people watching that final gig.. 2 or 3 thousand, maybe even 4, but not 10,000.

and the EP page:

Young producer Sam Shacklock brings a new generation freshness coming from his production of bright young emo name Denver Dalley (Desaparecidos, Statistic)

it's Statistics.

there also seems to be a lot of inconsistency with capital letters and somesuch.. which is fine for josh's blog, he's typing that... but on the rest of the site it just makes it seem a bit amateur.

yeah, shoot me down and call me petty, but an official site shouldn't really have spelling mistakes and errors like that. it makes it look less... well.. professional.

other than the mistakes, it's a well-designed and well-written site.

my only other comment would be that the coloured box at the bottom that displays the name of the section that's currently loaded is a little too big. it's about a 40-60 split between that and the above section which displays all the content. 40% of space for an image like that is a bit excessive.

got to agree with everclear on the spellings of things, but i'm sure that's easily remedied. especially the Dumdums references i guess. other than that, it's a good work :)

but surely this will just open up the Dum Dums/DumDums/Dum dums type debate

and yeah i noticed the annoyingness of the capitalising and stuff. but in content the biogs are just so perfect.

Spelling will be corrected, however obscure they are (how many people really know the exact spelling of the bass player from The Who's name, and would care if they saw it spelt wrong?).

As for facts - all biogs have a degree of 'artistic licence' they are, afterall a sales pitch, so let's leave it at that!

it's hardly "obscure" james, he was a member of one biggest bands of the 60s and 70s..

and i'm the sort of person who would randomly google names like that and come across a site much like josh's. and get into their music that way.

it can happen!

Fine for me on Safari, mate. What's the problem?
Gimme your Pile and gimme your tail.

I live in New York, and I was thinking about the lagoon in Central Park, down near Central Park South. I was wondering if it would be frozen over when I got home, and if it was, where did the ducks go. I was wondering where the ducks went when the lagoon got all icy and frozen over. I wondered if some guy came in a truck and took them away to a zoo or something. Or if they just flew away.

I kept refreshing and kept getting the opening page. I refreshed for a whole 5 minutes! Then tried it once in IE and was in.

Also I can't read any of the text, its very. very pale blue on white for me, I'm having to copy and paste it to read it!

Thats not soemthing thats ever happened before.

EDIT: it now works in Safari and the text is good and readable and, surprisingly white on black...I wonder what was wrong for the IE version?

i agree with marks nitpickity points actually :p

including mis spellings of peoples names - if your'e going to use them in your "selling pitch" i think you should actually spell them right. it's just kinda rude to be er...name dropping when you don't even spell the name right... y'know?

there was a bit that confused me, in the biog that mentioned DUM DUMS being misconceived with boy bands et al, & it said something like "indie rans" which i dunno if it was just me or wether that was wrong... actually now i think about it, perhaps it was meant to read "indie ranks". ?

i was also perturbed reading it, sales pitch or whatever, when i found myself a couple of times saying "is that true?!" & on reading it, i assumed it would be, cos i wouldn't expect it to be full of lies, but after mark pointing some things out, i think maybe it wasn't true. LIES! LIES!!!

however, it looks like it's gonna be a real good site DEFINITLY as far as info is concearned.

i dunno if this is up to josh or not alos, but the links in the blog - can they be targetted to open in a new page, not the frame window? like. teach josh or somehting :p lol

i dunno

it's good, i cried.

Not sure why IE on MAC isn't working, as it's fine on PC......although I know what the problem is - I'm using CSS code to make the pages with text have a transparent background, and some browsers don't support that I don't think (Opera being one), and AOL/Compuserve built-in browser, but you can't win 'em all!

Glad to hear it's ok on Safari, cause I can't test it on that!

There aint no lies on there people
You just forget

The little things that got a bit twisted are the greenbelt 10,000 thing - there was 10,000 at the festival but not actually in the field but according to the organisers there were a lot more than you think...also the shepherds bush thing was sold out and part of a sold out tour that is why it says at a sold out show or whatever because it was one of a number of them...i proof read everything else and its all true i will not tolerate lies my friend

You think Obi Wan is a liar when he says about lukes dad being killed?
