Ch Ch Ch Ch Changes!

Postby James » Tue Feb 24, 2004 3:36 am

Right, so hopefully I won't be attacked left, right & centre for making changes to the beloved bored (Remember the days?!).

As you can see a few things have changed - making the the font style (from arial to verdana) and the width the board takes up of your browser window (was 100%, now 80%).

The font change was purely to see what it looked like and see if freshening things up a bit was good or not. After making it smaller too, I think it works....however feel free to say so if you agree/disagree.

The width I changed because the font is now smaller, so it kind of ties in, if you have a smaller font and you don't *need* thigns as wide.

There will be a few other minor changes (more minor than these in the cosmetic dept.) as I have a couple of little add-ons that you may like, but nothign major.

I'm not going to change everything in a massive way as I realise a lot of you fear change and if you don't feel safe here, then you don't feel safe anywhere (not even in your own homes).

So fear not, change is ok (and sometimes good!) and look at it as; redecorating/rearranging a room - a change is good once in a while.

i think things are too small.. and they really hurt my eyes (tiny high-res monitor.. y'see).

but i can change the font size locally on my browser, and make my own style sheets and use those instead, if everyone disagrees with me. :p

One thing that does look a bit odd is that there are no borders around the posts? Maybe it has always been like that and I'm just noticing it because of the width. But a teeny border might help to make it tidier. Just a suggestion. But well done for spring cleaning :)

That confuddled me, I couldn't find it at first but then I got over it and it's all ok. I quite like it like this.

*squints*

i like the font, and i like the black hole being at the top even though i got really confused for a while trying to find it. but couldn't the board be like... 90%?
cos i can never get it on websites where they just have a small box in the centre of the screen and it's all tiny to fit it all in and..</offonatangent>
use the spaace.

It looks weird to me, the thin-ness. And what happened to the post where lots of people said they liked the old font better? :p

make it fatter james, or you're gonna be responsible for an anorexia epidemic :p

but seriously, i like it wider because my sig fits in it better. fair, that could be changed, BUT....people have said they liked it wide.

the fonts fine in my opinion, & the rearrangement of forum order too.

having the users online listed by post count made me laugh in a sad pathetic kinda way...

wide is good.

the fonts are too small though.. i notice you're setting them in using a measurement, it'd work better as a percentage, as it doesn't go screwy for people using better screens.

I'm not sure if I can set font sizes by percentage in the admin CP or not.

forum 8 :(
Gimme your Pile and gimme your tail.

I live in New York, and I was thinking about the lagoon in Central Park, down near Central Park South. I was wondering if it would be frozen over when I got home, and if it was, where did the ducks go. I was wondering where the ducks went when the lagoon got all icy and frozen over. I wondered if some guy came in a truck and took them away to a zoo or something. Or if they just flew away.

Forum 8 has become so secret and elitist that NO ONE can post in or, even know where it is!
