it usually goes:
- chloe and sal panic over what to wear
- someone gets lost
- people arrive somewhere
- mark slaps people on the arse as a greeting
- things may or may not happen (not important)
- drinking commences
- much cider (2 pints if you're certain people) is consumed
- drunk people/stoned people (or a combination of the two) are laughed at
- sal tried to feed mark more alcohol
- mark gets frisky and tried putting various items (hand, beer bottle) down rob's jeans
- band play/acoustic spontaneous sets
- everyone sings
- people gradually fall leave/ fall asleep

next day:
- pub lunch. usually wetherspoons.

throughout:
- elitist jokes are told/spawned (eg. 'your real mum/dad/raped santa'..)
- the words 'cunt' and 'mate' are overused
- mark slaps everyone's arse

some people have the audacity to actually meet up with people outside of these things, so be warned... the little elitist fuckers may consider certain people to be better friends than others.

That is ok as long as they don't just completely ignore people who they haven't met before. Mentioning no names, but a couple of people at Birmingham were just rude.

probably me. meetups are odd though, and I'm shy when it comes to new people. a lot tends to be going on, so it's sometimes difficult to be able to keep up with everything and be sociable with everyone. safer with friends. birmingham sucked for me, but that had nothing to do with the 'event'.

i have a feeling that if i ever went to a meetup, i'd get all shy and not talk to anyone so everyone would think i was being rude and hate me. :?

No it wasn't you Sal :) it was someone who had actually said they wanted to meet me. I guess we are all kind of shy people on here though. It is true that it is much easier and safer to just stick with your friends too.

Ummm I'm late into this thread but if I'm free and if I can afford it, I'm pretty much up for anywhere really. Obviously closer to home is gonna be cheaper for me, and Birmingham sounds cool. But staying somewhere would be a problem, cos if this was a V thing I have loads of places to stay in most areas but with a dds thing I have nowhere to stay and hotels are expensive.

Umm I'll do my best. Not that anybody cares. And I'll talk to anyone.. I'm usually nicer to people in real life than online anyway.

Okay i don't know how i managed to miss this thread but I have

I would love to come to another meet up

All my weekends are taken up til april as mark is running the London Marathon and we are busy fundraising but after that if I had enough notice

Of course Birmingham is easier for me

Are people still up for it?

and if so are there any dates yet?

Would love it to happen

yea it'd be cool to finally come along to a meetup. Altho i think I'd probably be very scared and shy! And I'm crap with directions so if there was someone wo would care to befriend me and take me under their wing that would be great :)

Midlands is preferable altho I suppose if there was a northern meetup it would mean I could finally go and see my friends up at uni in Leeds and other silly places that cost me a bomb to get to!
I tried to give you up but I'm addicted

hayley- have a look at the meetup post i made in the black hole, tis a sticky. updated information about any future meetup will happen there (though it doesn't look as though anything is going to happen anytime soon at this rate).

if we do get something sorted out, you're more than welcome to travel to it with me :)
