New Guitarist!

Postby James » Tue Nov 23, 2004 2:18 am

I'm pleased to finally announce that Clarkesville have a new guitarist...and some of you may know him!

Former Sonara guitarist Greg Lake is now part of Clarkesville and will be making his live debut with the band on December 4th in Nottingham!

Greg has been friends with Michael, Steve & Stuart for some time now and we're all chuffed to have such a talented guitarist, and all round nice guy/friend on board!

So three cheers for Greg please!

first person to read this thread, rock 8)

woo for greg. :)
Gimme your Pile and gimme your tail.

I live in New York, and I was thinking about the lagoon in Central Park, down near Central Park South. I was wondering if it would be frozen over when I got home, and if it was, where did the ducks go. I was wondering where the ducks went when the lagoon got all icy and frozen over. I wondered if some guy came in a truck and took them away to a zoo or something. Or if they just flew away.

LMAO! Greg Lake is also of Emerson Lake & Palmer fame - but we're talking about several different people here!

Clarkesville's Greg Lake is known as Greg 'The Ebow' Lake! A very fitting name for a guitarist!

i probably would have said the same as ian, but without the exclamation marks.

fact is, the band is now a "band" instead of random people being michael's backing band.. so new material is on the way and promises to be excellent and blah blah i'm sure james will say the same thing..

Terry - I know it must be weird, everything changing.....but you just have to trust me that this IS the new and vastly improved version!

It is slightly different musicaly, but at the end of the day it's still great songs and having heard these latest demos been recorded day-by-day for the last few weeks, I am literally wetting myself to hear the finished thing, which is being mixed as I type!

As for who's in the band - like people say, this is now a band, full of people who are 100% commited to doing this, people who aren't earning a penny from doing this at the moment - they're doing this because they believe in it. In the past apart from Michael, the others were effectively 'backing musicians' if you like (this included Stuart & Steve at different times, as well as Bastian, Richie, another Stuart, Nikolaj & Andy - all of whom played in the live setup at one point or another) - these guys were not part of the artistic, or decision making process during 'The Half Chapter' campaign. That's how it was then, but this is how it is now, and again all I can say is trust me - you won't be dissapointed!

As for Greg, I don't know a better guitarist. He really is something special and he's someone Michael, Steve & Stu have a lot of respect for both as a musician and as a friend. Some people here already know of Greg and his talent because of the band Sonara (www.sonara.co.uk) he used to play in, as Steve (Clarke) was their manager. You may have also Seen Dan Whitehouse (Sonara's singer) open up acoustically for Clarkesville at the Underworld last November.

You're right, it will never be the same again - it's going to be better....MUCH better!

You'll see ;)

lol ok thanks for all that info James and hopefully the new line up will work well. just one of the things that attracted me to Clarkesville was the way it was like Michaels thing. I hope they don't turn into another one of the new breed of The Strokes / The Hives / Franz Ferdinand type bands. Would be nice to hear some of these demos though

Don't worry that isn't going ot happen! And I know what you mean, and The Half Chapter will always have been Michael's thing, but like with everything in life, there are pluses and minuses to being a solo artist, and the same applies to being in a band - there's certainly a lot less pressure on Michael now as everything is split 4 ways and he's happy about that!

I'm hoping to stream some of tis new music on the website - but it depends on various things; like how the band feel about putting demo material up and what management think about it etc. so I can't make any promises!

All I know is you'll hear loads of it at the Nottingham gig!
