no disrespect to any of them of course.

Now though I think they're like....a proper band. As apposed to it being Michael with musicians. And they're writing songs together and the whatnot.

"But Clarkesville will no longer be a 'singer songwriter' with a 'backing band' anymore, now it's BAND - everyone equal/on the same level, everyone writing the songs together etc. A proper band."

should think they'll all be writing then?

ah right, but doesn't what james said imply that they never claimed to be a band in during the first album? and just a singer with backing people. or do you mean clarkesville suggests mike and steve are the lead singer/songwriters? do i even know what i'm talkin about?

Right!

Firstly Clarkesville AIN'T 2/3rds of the Dum Dums minus Josh - it's VERY different musically, apart from being very good, of course!

With Clarkesville's first album Michael & his producer (Martin terefe wrote most of the songs). Steve co-wrote one of the b-sides 'Set In Stone' with Michael.

Since the beginning of the year Steve has been co-writing all of the new songs with Michael and since April time Stu has been in the band and is continuing to write with them.

The latest batch of songs have basically come about from them jamming in rehearals rooms...they've been figuring out exactly what direction to go in and this has meant they've all written the songs.

At the moment Michael is the sole lyric writer (as Josh was), mainly because as with most bands - the person who has to sing the words, likes to write them and Michael is the lead singer.

In the future - who knows, maybe the others will write lyrics, or contribute to them...but Michael is most defintely a songwriter, always has been.

So yeah - like I said, this is now a joint venture where as before it wasn't really - it was Michael & backing musicians who didn't have any artistic input. Different musicians played on the album than played in the live band.

As for what was implied int he past...that's a grey area - the record label always wanted it to come across as if it was a band, when really it wasn't....why, I'm not sure - but they do stupid stuff like this and at the end of the day it isn't really that important, cause good music is good music, whatever it is.

Hope this clears things up, any other questions?

to be pendantic, he didn't say the same as he has the board. just like. although clearly the only reason for this little contribution is to be pendantic.

in keeping with the topic, i wonder what stu from clarkesville would have to say about this. there. no tangent, nope.nope.nope.

i found a green top exactly the colour of this board. i forgot i had it. even though i only bought it two weeks ago.

stuart would have said wear a pink top, and would of been really disappointed that i opted for green.

yeah, but he just says that because celtic play in green. i mean i can yadda on how much i love red for ages, but at the end of the day, i'm blonde - i don't do red. he's just unwilling to accept how much he loves pink.

probably true, because i can't think of anything he owns that's green [apart from the celtic scarf]... maybe a bag... but that's kinda khaki, which really shouldn't count...

but pink?!

Yeah, I'm not sure many people ever realised just how good he is.

Not just in a 'hes really good' way. But in like, he is really good, better than a lot drummers...very versatile, he can play any style to a very high standard, something a lot of top draw drumer can't do.

I agree!

Not an expert in the art of drumming but he did really stand out and the band seemed better for his presence.

Good stuff!
