JOSH
SAYS...
Josh
on Stuart...
"Stu
is not just a drummer. He makes sure he tells us this
as often as possible, so we don't forget. He is, in
all seriousness, good at singing too and coming up
with musical ideas, yet he is also a very good drummer
as well.......What a talent! Stu can be quite insecure
at times and you do wonder if he puts it on so everybody
says he's brilliant, "You can do it Stu, we believe
in you, etc." But his insecurities only come to show
how sensitive he is inside (aaah!). He's particularly
sensitive when it comes to what he looks like. He's
not so bad now, but he used to spend hours doing his
hair before going out. At University, I told him I'd
meet him for the England vs Italy football game at
the local bar and he was really excited, etc, but
spent so long doing his hair, he showed up with five
minutes of the game left!! Stu comes in for a lot
of flack - he has to hold us together and every finger
points at him if we ever screw the music up, but he's
learning to take it, and this is not to say he doesn't
give it out too. Oh, yes, for beneath his polite,
sensitive exterior, Stu is a part-time animal, rabble
rouser, nutcase! When we are together and tired, we
tend to start doing and saying really gross things
- this brings out Stu's dark side and he can really
put Steve and I to shame! There it is, Stuart, shy,
sensitive, not just a drummer, with an untouchable
barbaric streak. Lock up your daughters!!"
Josh
on Steve...
"Steve
is a real social animal, which is a good thing. He
swans around our gigs making friends and really makes
everyone feel welcome. I don't know what he talks
about, but he always manages to come up with something
everyone finds interesting. Yet along with this comes
vanity. How many times have I seen him out the corner
of my eye and he's been eyeing himself up in the mirror?
Or he's got that face on when he walks past a shop
window and sees his reflection! Steve is very musically
talented. From the dawn of the band, he has been the
fastest picker-upper of the songs in the galaxy, bringing
his own touch to our sound. Generally, he makes the
least mistakes, although I do have two more strings
to screw up with! He also has his idea of how the
band should sound and it's good that he's stable,
because sometimes I go nuts wanting to push our boundaries
that little bit too far, (read 'Thrash Metal') and
Steve will speak up and calm me down. He is very organised
too, and this helps, considering that Stu and I can
have our off days. Steve was the first to get a mobile
phone, Steve is always on his mobile phone, he's always
got his diary and you can always count on him to be
in the right place at the right time. Although he
does have his moments and I have noticed he has been
slacking off with his timekeeping - or maybe Stu and
I have been getting better? Anyway, Steve Clarke,
social party animal, sex symbol, 'the organised one',
rock of stability, a man of contradiction, a man shrouded
in mystery!" "Both Steve and Stu are my friends and
I don't think I've been to nasty at all, so they better
not be nasty to me. Now I've been thinking a little
more, there are many things I could say about them.
But I guess I'll leave that up to the public to find
out in due course, so stay tuned!"
