PICK OF THE WEEK - DUM DUMS 'EVERYTHING' (MCA)
The ink on the contract between MCA and Telstar/Wildstar is just about dry and the focus is now on breaking one of the most promising new UK alternative/pop acts in the US market. This shouldn't be too difficult a task, considering that the Dum Dums are an exeptionally talented trio who write infectious, non-pretentious, radio-frienldy anthems! In addition, Dum Dums offer an energetic stage prescense that can be compared to the likes of Blink-182, Smash Mouth, Third Eye Blind and other Multi-Platinum sellers. There are few acts that I would bet my musical credibility on; Dum Dums are one of those rarities. "Everything" is destined to be a Top 10 Alternative Radio smash, and could just as easily cross over to Rock and Top 40 radio. Luckily, MCA has an act in the Dum Dums that has at least three or four other potential hits waiting in the wings....A and R man Tom Sarig will be one happy bloke! Kevin Weatherly (KROQ Los Angeles) and Aaron Axelsen (KITS San Francisco) are two early believers in this band....the rest of the country will surely follow suit now that the Dum Dums have found a home stateside.
